Alan's story begins in Indonesia, where he was born into a Javanese family synonymous with music and creativity. As the eldest son of John Koeswoyo and eldest grandson of Koeswoyo, the patriarch of the legendary 'Koes Plus' family band, Alan has grown up surrounded by the vibrant cultural heritage of his ancestors.
Alan prefers to keep a low profile, using a pseudonym to maintain his anonymity. Away from the public eye, he nurtures his creative spirit through various hobbies, including songwriting, playing instruments, and performing in bands at clubs, weddings and parties in mid 70s and early 80s. He's also an avid painter.
Interestingly, Alan had briefly dipped his toes into the music industry, releasing an album in 1979. Yet, he chose to step away from the limelight and pursue a different path.
At 16, he left for Australia to seek knowledge and explore his passion for spirituality, which had been a driving force since his early years.
A lifelong seeker of truth and wisdom, Alan has been meditating since his early years, also into martial arts and reiki, cultivating a deep understanding of the human experience. His fascination with spirituality has only grown stronger over time, guiding his personal growth, creative pursuits, and writing.
Alan's unconventional journey has been marked by a disdain for institutional education, instead opting for a more personal and introspective natural approach to learning. This unique perspective has shaped his worldview and informed his writing.
Now, with the release of his first book, Popcorn Spirituality, Alan steps forward to share his insights more openly. His writing invites readers into a space where science and spirit meet, where ordinary experiences reveal extraordinary truths. More than just a collection of ideas, his work offers a bridge—a path of integration and remembrance for those seeking to align with the deeper rhythms of life.
Alan’s journey is a testament to quiet wisdom, perseverance, and the unshakeable guidance of a heart led by spirit. His teachings are drawn from a lifetime—and beyond—and now, he invites others to walk alongside him, toward deeper understanding and inner truth.
